ASTER images can be downloaded by FTP (use any
ftp manager, like FTP Explorer) through the EOS Data Gateway web site
currently at the cost of US$60 (Aster 1A and 1B; Aster "on demand"
products remain without charge - please check). There are several TERRA
data types - including selected ASTER 1B scenes - available at no charge
through the DATA
POOL .
Go to http://edcimswww.cr.usgs.gov/pub/imswelcome/ This is the layout of the site:
First register yourself at the EOS Data Gateway web site. Click on "Become a registered user" to do this. The "User Registration" page appears. Fill in the registration form, then click on"Continue". The "User Registration: Username/Password " appears. Choose your username and password (standard username and password are defined, but it´s possible to change them). Important: the username provided by the EOS Data Gateway site has its initial letter as High Cap. Both login name and password are case sensitive. Click on "Submit Registration". The "Registration Completed" screen will appear. The user can login immediately. To do this, click on the "Account sign-in" button. The operational system window appears. Enter your username and password there. If you are already registered, go to the operational system initial page and click on "Enter as a registered user" to make the logon. Once you're a registered user, your current selection parameters (e.g. lat/lon rectangle, time period etc.) are stored and recalled when you log on again. Always check for new and updated information from EDC on the main entry page.
The "Primary Data Search" screen (picture above) will be loaded
FIRST STEP: SELECTING ASTER SENSOR There are two ways to choose the Aster Sensor: 1. Method: Enter "ASTER
in the field "Method 1" (Recommended), and enter return. 26 results will be listed. Select the options shown on the picture below:
These are the Aster images archives. Level 1B images are already radiometrically corrected. Level 1A images are raw data.
2.Method: Click on"Sensor", and then click on the button "Select". The window "Keyword Selection: Sensor" will appear. Go to "Sensor List 1" and select the desired option (Aster). Click OK and the file will be selected.

It is recommended to click on "Display lat/long range on map" to visualize on the map the chosen geographic region. Below, in "Choose the Date/Time Range (not required)", the user can define a time range to retrict images to a certain year or time period . Click on "Start Search". The EOS data base will be automatically searched, wich can take a few minutes. You can wait until the search is finished, or cancel at any time to get the partial search result. When the search is over, the results will appear similiar to the picture below:

Click on "view image" to obtain a thumb nail imae of the selected scene (e.g. to check for cloud cover / visibility). To select the image for download, click on "Add to Cart".
